Activities

Lincoln County 4-H offers a variety of activities and programs for youth ages 5 - 18. Whether it's a school or community club, a project, or an overnight experience, there's something for everyone! 4-H membership is FREE, but some programs (like overnight events) have associated fees.

*In order to participate in Lincoln County 4-H Programs, youth must either live or go to school in Lincoln County.

4-H Camp— 4-H members travel to the JM Feltner 4-H Camp in London, KY for a 5-day overnight camping experience.  Activities include swimming, crafts, shooting sports, nature hikes, recreation & much, much more!

County Fair—4-H members exhibit projects & show livestock during this week long event in July.  Trophies, ribbons, and premium money are awarded as prizes.

Kentucky State Fair—County Fair winners exhibit winning projects at one of the largest state fairs in the nation.  This 10-day event is held in Louisville and trophies, plaques, ribbons, & premium money are awarded.

4-H Country Ham Project—this project is open to youth ages 9-18. Youth will learn about and complete the curing process for two country hams. Youth are required to complete a 3-5 minute speech at the Kentucky State Fair in order to complete the project.  Registration will be available beginning in November and youth will meet in January, May, and August with independent work in between. There is a one-time fee of $65 to enroll in this project, which includes two country hams at the conclusion of a completed project. Youth and guardians must pre-register and sign a contract.

Speech & Demonstration Contest—Youth learn to write, organize, & deliver a speech or demonstrate a skill.  Winners earn the right to participate in area and state competitions.

Middle School Retreat —Youth in grades 6-8 travel to a 4-H camp for an overnight leadership conference. This event is 1-night and 2-days and a great way for middle school youth to begin taking on leadership roles within the 4-H program.

Summit—Youth in grades 6-8 travel to the Kentucky Leadership Center for a 2 night, 3-day conference to develop leadership & life skills.

Teen Retreat —Youth in grades 9-12 travel to the Kentucky Leadership Center for a 2 night, 3-day conference to develop leadership & life skills.

Teen Conference —Youth in grades 9-12 travel to the University of Kentucky for a 3 night, 4-day conference to develop leadership, career, & life skills.

4-H Issues Conference — The Kentucky 4-H Issues Conference is a way for high school age members to learn the process of identifying and addressing local issues. While at the conference, 4-H’ers share ideas, collaborate with others, and present to a mock community board.

Capitol Experience—Members in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to travel to the Kentucky State Capitol in Frankfort for state government’s largest youth event.  4-H members tour the capital, and meet state officials.

4-H Achievement Banquet—4-H members, project & club leaders, sponsors, and community leaders are honored for their contributions, achievements, & service to Lincoln County 4-H at local, district, state, & national events from the previous 4-H program year.

4-H International Programs—the 4-H International Exchange Program gives Kentucky families the opportunity to host a Japanese or South Korean youth in their home for 3.5 weeks during the summer. Youth are between the ages of 12-17 and wish to experience American culture by living with a family. You may also host an international student for an entire school year. Families who host have the ability to save credits for their child/children to travel abroad!
